About
Hi, I’m Ryan. I’m a software developer, amateur photographer, and dad to two young kids (with a third on the way).
My Photography Journey
I’ve been interested in photography for years, starting with a Canon 550D. Over time, I tried out different camera brands and even dabbled in film photography. For a while, I was caught up in always having the newest gear.
But as my family grew, I realized I was spending more time thinking about cameras than actually taking photos. That’s when I decided to make a change.
Discovering the Canon 5D Classic
I sold my modern gear and bought a Canon 5D Classic - a digital camera from the early 2000s. It was a big shift, but it taught me a lot about photography basics and helped me focus on taking pictures instead of obsessing over equipment.
Learning to Repair Cameras
My first 5D Classic stopped working soon after I got it. Instead of giving up, I learned how to fix it. Now I own two 5D Classics that I’ve repaired myself. This experience has given me a new hobby: bringing old cameras back to life.
What I’m Focused On Now
- Taking photos of my family and our everyday life
- Getting back into street photography
- Using and maintaining older camera equipment
- Learning new photography and repair skills
- Sharing what I’ve learned about the 5D Classic and camera repair
Current Project
I’m working on a guide to help other 5D Classic owners fix a common problem with these cameras. I hope it will help keep more of these cameras in use.
If you’re interested in photography, older cameras, or DIY repairs, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to chat.
Thanks for stopping by!
Ryan
